The First Holy Communion Programme got underway with a parents evening on Monday 18th March 2024 in the parish centre. The parish priest and catechist reminded the parents present of their responsibility, taken on at baptism, to be the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith. This involves each Catholic parent ensuring that they and their children take a full part in the parish, from attending Mass each Sunday to doing their bit in different ways to help the parish community.
The remaining catechesis will now take place after the 9am Mass from 10-11.30am on Sunday 19th May and Sunday 16thJune, with the First Holy Communion Mass taking place at 1pm on Sunday 23rd June. A final session will be a celebration mass at 9am on 30th June where the children will be presented with their certificates.
If you failed to enrol your child for this year's programme, or they are unable to attend all the sessions above, they will be warmly welcomed on to the First Communion Programme next year.
