Here at St. Roberts Church, we welcome new residents and visitors. Our parish is very much dependent on the coming together of the people within our community. As a collective, our church shares the responsibility needed for us to be a vibrant, faith-filled part of the body of Christ. For this to happen, it is important that, where possible, parishioners assist with the operational aspects of the church and parish, using the skills at knowledge at their disposal. Some of these are listed below although some are generic and, as the new website progresses, we will make them more compatible with the life of our own parish.
Please do reach out and enquire about how you can become involved in our Parish life. Our faith journey is so much more rewarding when shared with others.
Faith is not a light which scatters all our darkness, but a lamp which guides our steps in the night and suffices for the journey.
Pope Francis
Welcomers provide an important friendly face as people arrive at Mass, helping them with hymn books and Mass books and answering queries that they may have. If you would like to be a welcomer, please talk to one of the clergy or a welcomer themselves.
We need to build up the team of young altar servers at weekend Masses and would welcome interested enquiries from parents and young parishioners.
Enquire about joining one of the choirs or offering your services as a musician.
Become a Minister of the Word and read the scriptures or the Prayer of the Faithful at Mass.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist visit the sick, taking Communion to them at home and occasionally help distribute the host at Mass.
Help the team who prepare flowers for Sundays and special celebrations.
Assist with Tea and Coffee (at the moment served after 9am and 11am Masses. Also, we need assistance with catering at various parish events. Make yourself known to us if you would like to help.
Help in preparing our children, teenagers and adults on their journey of faith or in providing a childrens' liturgy. Note that a Disclosure and Barring Service check is necessary to work in this area.
Counters count the money. If you have financial and business skills, let us know if you are prepared to help steward the Church's resources and buildings..
Let us know if you are willing to help in the administration involved in planning events.
